Here’s the May Social Media Ranking for Eurovision Song Contest 2018!

Alekseev takes the social media top spot

Ahead of tomorrow’s Eurovision Grand Final in Portugal, we look at the social media interaction data of participating countries and their performers to determine—and perhaps predict—who the most popular contestants are. Despite not qualifying past the semi-final round, Ukrainian singer Alekseev (who represented Belarus with his song Forever) ranked number 1 with over 700.000 total social media interactions this month. The outpouring of support from his fans pushed him 30.000 interactions above 2nd-place Eleni Foureira, who pulled in over 670.000 social media interactions across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Eleni represents Cyprus in this year’s Song Contest and is actually favored to win with her song Fuego.

Melovin, yet another singer from Ukraine, represents his country both on-stage in Lisbon and within our Social Media Ranking at the 3rd place position. Only time will tell if his performance of Under the Ladder will be enough to win Eurovision 2018, or if Sweden’s Benjamin Ingrosso or Israel’s Netta Barzilai will give the rest of the ranking’s top 5 a worthy Song Contest battle.
